Just as a way to clarify: I currently own an RM Olson acoustic guitar, and I also have an LP Custom clone on custom order whose arrival is anticipated in February. There is also a batch of 6 special guitars which are in production now. These are Les Paul Custom clones done as a tribute to the late, great Randy Rhoads. Robert did these by request especially for members of the Agile Guitar Forum. He also produced a Gibson ES-335 clone for a member of AGF and it turned out beautifully. And his acoustics... well, more good reviews!

I say this because I feel that Robert is a very rare breed of person who enjoys being able to help people get a good guitar for a fair price, even when it's custom made! In my experience with him on AGF, he has always been patient, tolerant, and open to suggestions. Having access to the owner of a guitar company is very uncommon, and even more so the willingness to actually LISTEN to his customers and what they want. That was the reason that I felt comfortable enough to send him a deposit on my custom.

Here is the link to R. M. Olson & Co. I really recommend checking it out, and he currently has his own discussion forum as well on his site:

http://www.rmolsonguitars.com/

If there are any Olson owners out there, feel free to post up a review for us to tide us over till we get our guitars. And rest assured that I'll have a review up once I get my custom in my hands.

Thanks guys!

Hi everyone! I'm new here and I am in the market for an affordable lp type guitar (my budget and playing ability cannot justify spending alot of money on a guitar). I found Robert's website while doing research on the internet. His guitars look great! I hope to order a custom solid body single-cut soon. Does anyone know exactly what options can be customized - or is only color schemes that can be customized? Thanks in advance Smile.

Welcome, Whistler!
If you email him, I think he can do a lot for customizing the guitar. I contacted him about a PRS style, and we talked about a lot of options. We talked about body shape, wood, fretboard, maybe a cap on the guitar, finish; all in all, we talked about a lot of things.

You should also look at Agile guitars, and if there's something that you like there, they are awesome guitars. They compare to $2000 Gibsons.

Well, that's a question best left to Robert, but I will tell you that he is working on a batch of LP Custom clones for some folks that are done as a tribute to Randy Rhoads, the late great guitarist for Ozzy. He also is working on a 3 pickup '57 LP Custom Black Beauty for me, and if you check out the Dream Factory thread, you'll see what he's working on for greentintedsixtiesmind and for gmzanatta...

I haven't personally delved too far into what he can do outside of traditional Gibson fare, since I've had major GAS for an LP Custom for ages. Hopefully Robert will post here and give us an idea of the full power of his fully operational Death Star... er, Custom Shop... muahahaha (evil laugh)... Laughing

I second that.

Even then you probably wont find another guy like Robert who will listen and work with his customers the way he does.

That's for sure. Robert is always very accessible and gracious, and it's really great to see the owner of a company taking time to interact on a personal level with his potential, and existing, customers. That's worthy of commendation, especially in this age of robotic corporate tools (like the ones who work at Guitar Center Razz )

Too bad it's true. None of those people know what they're talking about.

Haha I know. When I went to buy the nut for my acoustic I asked for a Tusq nut and was met by a blank stare...quite aggravating really. At least he sort of knew what a nut was Laughing
