I was thinking it could be the RR as well, but would that be a body upgrade? I'm not sure what could even be done to the existing solid body. Can anyone inform me? _________________ Current Guits:

Well, upgrades could be anything from weight relief, chambering, hardware upgrades, modifications to the actual shape and more. Maybe the current ones use a flame veneer and not a solid maple cap, while the new ones will be solid maple cap? Who knows, but we shall see |

Yeah every time I check my e-mail I'm hoping to get something from Robert about my custom...soon I hope...soon...
I'll make sure to post pics from the un-boxing as well as when I put some of the new hardware I bought for it (Wilkinson roller bridge and ez-lock tuners). _________________ Newest addition: RMO ES-335 Custom Build

I think one thing Robert changed on this run is that he's going from the "perimeter" burst pattern he had to a teardrop burst, which is more Gibby-ish. There is also the addition of ebony boards and block inlays on some of them, and he has a few silverbursts en route. Silverbursts are growing on me... _________________ ᛊᛈᚨᚱᚨ ᛟᚲᚢᚱ ᚠᚱᚨ ᚦᛖ ᛟᚠᛊᚨᛒᚱᛇᛞᛁ ᚨᚠ ᚦᛖ ᚾᛟᚱᚦᚢᚱ |

I really hope Robert gets a chance to post a list of the guitars he is getting in. It would be awesome to know it before hand, that way we can prepare a shopping list (or wish list) so that when the stuff comes in we can jump on it quick. _________________ Newest addition: RMO ES-335 Custom Build

I'm not a big fan of the teardrop, they are alright I guess. I am hoping for obsidian paint, and possibly a maple cap. Jumbo frets too, unless they already have them. _________________ Current Guits:

I think Robert's website said that something was going on today. Mail doesn't run on Sundays but he says around Feb 7th shipments will start coming in.
Good news. I need a solid body LP soon. _________________ Current Guits:

That silverburst with the 3 pups sure looks pretty. I'm hoping Robert will give us an update on what he has so that we can ponder what we would like to buy. _________________ Newest addition: RMO ES-335 Custom Build

|
|
Received my Olson, iced tea burst, hollow body LP style guitar recently and was impressed with the fit and finish and delivery time. I took the guitar to my luthier for set-up (I do minor set-up myself) and his opinion. The following was required:
Replace poorly cut plastic nut with bone.
Complete fret job, level and crown (5 frets were actually loose).
File the saddles to match the fretboard radius.
Set action, intonation and adjust pickup height.
I also ordered a hard case with my guitar instead of the gig bag that comes standard. The guitar does not fit the case. Body fits fine, however the neck has no support and the head stock slides from one side of the case to the other.
After the set-up the guitar plays well and has a good mellow tone. The neck is fast and the guitar is light and comfortable.
Robert is great to deal with and his guitars are o.k., for the money, but be prepared to spend extra to make them play. |
