Hey guys, its GTSM here. I own a Dean VMNTX Dave Mustaine Sig. V guitar - bolt on version. Im more of an Ibanez player nowadays, so my problem is... is the neck pocket of the Dean compatable with an Ibanez neck? Im thinking (for those of you well versed in Ibanez lingo) I might have to go to a square heel Wizard II or Wizard for the swap seeing as how all more recent Ibanez guitars have the AANJ neck pocket/bolt configurations. Any insight?

I don't know about the compatibilty of the two necks, but if you have a spokeshave and you know how to use it, you could just make your current neck thinner.

I've only heard good things about the Wizard I neck from ibanez. If it is a different shape contacting a local Luthier would be a good option.

A good place to find out if the neck is compatible would be the Jemsite forums...the question might start a flame war over there - those guys can be vicious sometimes but generally they will answer your questions.

I know, thats why I asked here first, lol. I dunno the guitar itself is really S****y. I just really liked the shape. If its a big to do then screw it.

you could find the neck pocket specs for each guitar and compare them,such as depth x width x length,also make sure the guitar scale is the same,most guitars are either 25.5" or 24.75".

Most Ibanez though have that AANJ style neck(all access neck joint) which might be only compatible with that type of neck pocket however I could be wrong about that so don't quote me.

If the neck pocket dimension are the same between both guitars it should fit(the depth however is not critical if the Ibanez neck is deeper you could just sand or cut it down to to the required depth),then you would just have to redrill the neck or body which ever you want,neck is easier though

I don't recommened any of this if you dont' know what your doing.But then again if you have the tools and your not afraid to experiment,you can make anything fit by trail and error.

I put a hot dog in a hamburger bun once,tasted perfect to me,lol
