New Martin DC16 rtge Aura. What does all that mean?

(D) Dread (C) Cutaway, (16) non premium Martin series as far as the bells n' whistles.

(R) Rosewood (T) Tung oil? I don't know, finish is matte except for the top which is (G) Gloss finished, and it also obviously has (E) Electric capability with a Fishman Aura pickup, which is pretty sweet. It has 6 digital images of famous studio microphones known for 6 different sounds. It also has a piezo under the saddle, which you can blend with any of the images. Got a great deal on it. Books for like $2,300, but got it for $1100 from a guy that upgraded to a D 28.

With some of the money I saved (choking laughing) I upgraded all of the evil micarta bridge pins, saddle and nut to fossilized walrus ivory. What a difference. Almost too good. I get harmonics everywhere on the neck down to the first fret, which can be frustrating when you are trying to mute stings. A sweet guitar indeed though. And here are a few pics...

I finally just replaced the micarta nut after previously doing the pins and saddle. What a pain in the rear. Martin uses unnecessarily strong adhesives to glue the nut in place. Had to heat it up for 15 minutes while shielding the fretboard and headstock from heat to get it out. Sounds amazing now though.

Next to go is the micarta fretboard, then the bridge and binding. Once all that is done, it will no longer really be a DC 16. Can't wait.
