What are your guy's thoughts on non-traditional body shapes? (Any thing other than strat, les paul, SG, V, and Tele shaped guitars)

I love Jazzmasters, pretty much all Airline guitars. I'm not a fan of the pointy stuff though. I like smooth curves.

As a matter of fact, I like a JM so much I'm getting one built by Tony at AGF Very Happy

Airline? The old res-o-glas stuff? Try GuitarKitsUSA.

Ha!

Sorry about that when your post said "Airline" it immediately clicked

As most are aware I'm fascinated by alternative material guitars (non wood)

I was actually doing research on fiberglass/Epoxy Resin guitars and I came across GuitarKitsUSA and reading about the history I came across this piece of info:

Quote:
brand names: Supro, National, Atlas and Valco as well as several house brand names including Airline (Montgomery Ward) and English Electronic's Tonemaster.

about 200 dollars a kit...so at least it wont break the bank if you decide to go for it.

I like the more traditional shapes, but the one I can't let go is the Gibson Moderne for some reason. It's just so unique. I also like the Iceman.

I believe he plays an actual 1965 Montgomery Wards Airline guitar. The most inexpensive option is a kit from GuitarKitsUSA or you can pay 5x more buying a ready built model from www.eastwoodguitars.com

I don't think a carbon fiber model exists, or at least I haven't come across it yet. Because creating carbon fiber material is very much like doing fiber glass you could conceivably do it your self with the kits from GKUSA .

The moderne is very cool. but I can honestly say that the head stock on that is a little strange looking to me.
I like the Paul Gilbert 'Fireman' myself.

Yeah, the headstock looks like they forgot to finish it off. Some one the Gibson Guitar Of The Week models looked pretty nice as well.
