Being a history buff and also of Nordic descent, I've done some reading on the Old Norse language and "Viking" runes that my ancestors used. I changed my signature to a saying written in Elder Futhark runes (there are several runic alphabets that were used over the centuries; the Elder Futhark is, well, the eldest). I found a font called Junicode which includes regular characters plus most, if not all, the runes from the various alphabets as well as medieval characters. Cool stuff.
