I was cruising CraigsList for any decent gear and I came across an ad for "BC Rich and Vintage Mann" and the price given was 300. Me liking old off brand gear decided to take a look.

I was shocked at what I saw a PRS style BC Rich! The model name is "Exclusive". The sub model may be the EM1 in which case I might re sell it. but some of the design pieces on it suggest that it may be something more:

There is a pick guard on it which is not mentioned in any documentation I can find on the guitar and it has a "silver sparkle" finish which is also not mentioned as being an available finish

What do you guys think - Pull the trigger?

I'm assuming that's an import Rich... I'll do some digging on the web when I get home and see if I can unearth any useful info.

What I do know is that the "Exclusive" was designed by both Bernie Rico Sr. and Ed Roman.

They had their line of the (real - non import) exclusives but also had some import ones the (EM-I, EM-II, EM-III)

The exclusives that are non import are neck through (most of them), have Abalone binding, and all the other bells and whistles that make them so expensive that they should be under the 'cork sniffer' section

They did have a model of the expensive version that had a bolt on neck though - that's why some of the design inconsistencies with the EM-I are setting off my spidy sense.

Here are some pics from the ad:

Its almost like a Gretch Jet and a PRS SE had a baby Laughing

Here you can see what I'm talking about - The headstock design is consistent with the exclusive models that I've seen pics of how ever the logo on the headstock isn't.
The silver sparkle finish, according to everything I've read so far wasn't a stock option.
There is no mention of a pick guard anywhere in the documentation that I've found.
The block inlays are kind of a rare option as well

Even if it is just an EM-I I'm very curious to play it - for the price of 250 I can re sell it on E(vil)-bay and at very least break even...

Well, I'll say this much... it's different! It is a cool looking axe. I'm not sure if it's a real Rich or a good fake or what, but at the price, I guess it really doesn't matter. I suppose if I had the dough I'd probably bite; not much to lose!

This deal feel through as per usual.

Not too big of a loss. Just means there is more money for other stuff. Very Happy
