I don't know about you guys, but I love all things UK. From the landscapes, the music, entertainment, cars, food and drink, the dialectical differences between our English and the Queen's, and the culture as a whole, it's just very appealing to me and always has been. One life's goal for me is to hop across the pond and visit the whole UK... sometimes I even think about my wife, son, and I living there at least for awhile, to see if the grass really is greener (it may not be, I know).

Here are a few key things I appreciate from Old Blighty - some are obvious, some not so much:

1. The living history, specifically the ancient buildings and structures, some of which are still in use and/or can be toured.

2. The apparently (to American eyes) more laid-back, contemplative pace of life and enjoyment of same.

3. The beauty of the land and temperate climate.

4. The beer and food.

5. Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, the Beatles... and the list goes on for quite a while, of course. Not to mention early music composers from centuries past like John Dowland.

6. English dry humor.

7. The BBC! http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/

8. On a related note: The Shipping Forecast. There is a diehard group of fans of the Shipping Forecast, which is broadcast 4 times a day on BBC Radio 4. Even some people who have nothing to do with maritime activity enjoy it. Yes, I am a bit off Laughing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipping_Forecast

9. Monty Python... that's a given, though Very Happy

You might appreciate this being an anglophile:

Its a fender custom shop limited edition Jaguar cars strat.

British racing green paint
Burl walnut neck, fretboard, and pick guard that appears to be 'screw-less'
the inlays on the headstock are 18K gold
Gold hardware though out.

That is one sexy beast.

Damn, that is the most beautiful strat I have ever seen. Would love to own one, but don't even want to think how much it would cost...

25 of them were made specifically for Jaguar dealerships in Europe. From what I've learned since last night is about 6 or 7 of them made it into the public resale market. So you can imagine the price on these things - All 25 came out of the custom shop near here.

The first time I saw that model Paul Rogers was playing it on the Fender Strat 50th anniversary concert.

I was very intrigued about the "screw-less" pick guard design - thought it looked really clean.

Wow. Maybe when I have enough cash and time I will grab a cheap MIM and do something like this as a project. Although find the neck/pickguard would be hard.

That's exactly what I was thinking too - I've been trying to figure out what would be the best project to do as my first guitar build...but your right finding anyone who will do a burl walnut fretboard would be ridiculously hard or very expensive...I think any dark would would be suitable too.

That is just awesome. Such a clean design. And the British Racing Green is perfect for the theme. That pickguard is really unique, have to say I've never seen anything like it... wonder what it would cost to do one like that? ?Shouldn't be too hard from a production standpoint - I'd think a CNC machine could knock it out easily - but the cost of the wood... well... Rolling Eyes

I found a site that does wood pick guards and they run anywhere from 65 to just over 100 depending on the wood choice.

The real challenge would be to fab up the 'screw-less' piece of it. from what I gather that its not actually screw less but the wood guard snaps on to a gold pickguard that's screwed on to the body hiding the bottom pickguard
