Just wanted to let all of our legit users know that of late, there has been a wave of fake accounts created on this forum by bots. Seems to have been since the new year. Phantomotaku was the one who caught it and brought it to my attention. I have since begun deleting suspicious looking accounts. If you are a new user who has not yet posted, and the data in your profile looks fishy, you may get deleted. I am looking carefully to avoid deleting legit people, however.

Just keep an eye out for these bots and if you see anything suspicious, shoot a PM to either myself or Phantomotaku. Thanks everybody!

I also wanted to add that its about 10-15 spam bots/spammers registering in a 12 hour period.

Last night I cleaned a massive amount of fake users (about 75) out of our mists by running their email addresses and usernames against the "StopForumSpam.com" database - any one who had an entry there was purged from our humble forum.

I cleaned another 15 out about an hour ago.

Craig and I are looking into options with the web host (bizhat.com) and the forum software (PHPbb)
